Como funciona

Electrodialysis serves as a demineralization process that operates similarly to a plate-and-frame ion exchanger system. In this process (Figure 1), ions are transported from the salt-containing feed stream to a separate water stream called the concentrate through the use of selective ion-exchange membranes. The process is driven by a direct electric field that is applied between an anode and a cathode. The valuable products, which remain uncharged, stay within the feed stream (now called the dilute stream), and these products include substances such as whey protein, lactose, sugar, glycerin, and glycol.
